Analogical painting between signs, houses and planets

The Sky Map

A natal chart is a graphical representation of the position of the planets:

For a specific date and time.

For a given place.

It is established for a birth or an important event.

ree

A celestial chart includes:

  • Twelve signs of thirty degrees each, which always follow one another in the same order, counterclockwise.

  • Twelve houses of variable length, with the first house, or the ascendant, always located on the left side of the celestial chart.

The houses also progress counterclockwise. The celestial chart indicates the positions of the two luminaries, the Sun and the Moon, as well as the eight planets of the solar system for a given date, time, and place.

The structures of the twelve zodiacal signs

The Astrological Houses

There are 12 Houses in Astrology, they represent our sectors of life.

They divide the zodiacal circle into 12 unequal parts.

Their calculation and placement result from our birth coordinates.

The 12 Astrological Houses

ree

The House I: The House

The I or Ascendant House represents the self, the ego, the personality. The way we present ourselves to others and our behavior.

It talks about our physique and our energy, our vitality.

ree

House II : Financial Domain

Represents the material goods that we acquire, our possessions.

It talks about our relationship with money.

But also of our personal values, our relationship to material security.

It represents our ability in terms of communication, writing, speaking, and our capacity to study and understand.

It speaks of our close relationships, colleagues, neighbors, siblings, cousins, and so on, as well as short trips

ree

House V : Domain of Leisure / Children / Pleasure

House V is the house of pleasures. It is connected to celebrations, leisure activities, sports, and romantic relationships (especially in the context of lovers).

It is also the house of creativity, our artistic creations, and our children.La Maison V est celle des plaisirs.

House VI : Domain of Health / Daily Life

This is the house of chores, domestic obligations, daily work, and constraints. It also covers service professions (nursing, social work, etc.).

Additionally, it provides insight into our health and our relationship with anima

ree

House VII or Descendant : Domain of Partnerships / Spouse

This house is linked to marriage, partners, and associations.

It is also the house of enemies and legal matters.

House VIII : Domain of Challenges / Inheritance / Sexuality

House VIII deals with other people's money, such as that of our spouse or that acquired through inheritance. It provides information about death, its circumstances, and how we perceive it.

It also refers to our psychological deaths, our inner transformations, and it is the house of sexuality, how we experience it, and its significance.

House IX : Domain of Physical and Spiritual Journeys

House IX is the house of travel, particularly long-distance journeys abroad, as opposed to House III, which relates more to nearby travels. It also addresses our inner journeys, spirituality, beliefs, and ideals.

ree

House X or Midheaven: Domain of Career / Ambitions

House X or Midheaven provides insights into our social elevation, career, success, reputation, honors, and more generally, our destiny. It represents the world of vocations, and the goals achieved or not.

ree

House XI : Domain of Friendships

The XI House speaks of our friendships, our projects, our ideals, what we are committed to.

House XII : Domain of Challenges / Things in Gestation

House XII is the house of renunciation, of "proofs" that deeply transform us, and of dispossession.

It closes the cycle of the houses. In this sense, it speaks of our evolution, spiritual elevation, and what we sacrifice and give of ourselves.

It provides insights into our confinements, which may refer to prisons, retirement homes, hospitals, or psychological disorders.

The Houses are to be related to the zodiac signs.

The first House is analogous to the sign of Aries, the second to the sign of Taurus, the third to the sign of Gemini, then Cancer, and so on.

The Existential Journey of a Being through the Zodiac :

Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, represents the impulse to live, birth, and the enthusiasm of early spring.

  • In House I, the sign of Aries, the individual is born.

  • In House II, the sign of Taurus, they seek to establish themselves, fulfill their physical needs, and build security.

  • In House III, the sign of Gemini, the being opens up to the outside world and learns to communicate with their surroundings.

  • In House IV, the sign of Cancer, they find the home where they take root.

  • In House V, the sign of Leo, comes the time for love and the pleasures of life.

  • In House VI, the sign of Virgo, they discover the need to serve others, to take on daily responsibilities, and to work.

  • In House VII, the sign of Libra, the individual seeks to unite, collaborate, and share with others.

  • In House VIII, the sign of Scorpio, they go through a period of existential crisis where they must change their values and learn detachment.

  • In House IX, the sign of Sagittarius, they begin to take an interest in philosophy, religion, and the big questions about life and the role they must play in it.

  • In House X, the sign of Capricorn, the individual works in the world, contributes to it, and seeks to realize their ideals concretely.

  • In House XI, the sign of Aquarius, they further develop their sense of community and universal brotherhood.

  • In House XII, the sign of Pisces, the individual merges with the whole, abandoning their distinct personality in favor of Unity.

When studying the Tarot of Marseille, one can see an analogy in the progression of the Tarot cards with the existential journey of the being.

There is a clear connection between the divinatory art of the Tarot of Marseille and astrology.

Structure of the Zodiac Signs

The zodiac is a circumference of 360°.

The twelve zodiac signs each have 30 degrees.

ree
  • The Division of the Zodiac into 6 Emitting (Positive) Signs and 6 Receiving (Negative) Signs

  • 6 Positive Signs : Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius.

  • 6 Negative Signs : Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces.

In the order of the zodiac, positive and negative signs alternate.

Aries, a positive sign, is followed by Taurus, a negative sign; Gemini, a positive sign, by Cancer, a negative sign, and so on.

Positive and negative signs correspond to the Yin and Yang energies of Eastern traditions.

Positive and negative, emitter and receiver, masculine and feminine.

Able to be diplomatic, to smooth things over.

  • The Division of the Zodiac into 6 Spring-Summer Signs and 6 Autumn-Winter Signs

  • 6 Spring-Summer Signs : Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo.

  • 6 Autumn-Winter Signs : Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces.

ree
  • The Spring and Summer Signs Symbolize Extraversion.

  • The Autumn and Winter signs symbolize introversion.

The Division of the Zodiac Related to Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable Signs :

Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable Signs :

4 Cardinal Signs : Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn. Cardinal signs mark the beginning of seasons.

4 Fixed Signs : Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. Fixed signs are in the middle of seasons.

4 Mutable Signs : Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces. Mutable signs mark the end of seasons.

In the order of the zodiac, starting with Aries, the signs always follow the same sequence : Cardinal, Fixed, Mutable.

The signs in each group are 90° apart. When connected, they form a square.

The Fire, Earth, Air, and Water Signs :

Air and Fire signs are positive signs.

Earth and Water signs are negative signs.

Fire signs have affinities with Cardinal signs.

Earth signs have affinities with Fixed signs.

Air signs have affinities with Mutable signs.

There are four groups of three signs corresponding to the four elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.

Each group is composed of a Cardinal sign, a Fixed sign, and a Mutable sign.

For example, the Fire signs include one Cardinal sign (Aries), one Fixed sign (Leo), and one Mutable sign (Sagittarius).

3 Fire signs : Aries, Leo, Sagittarius  ------------------ Positive, Emitting signs.

3 Earth signs : Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn -------- Negative, Receiving signs.

3 air signs : Gemini, Libra, Aquarius ------------ Positive, Emitting signs.

3 Water signs : Cancer Scorpio Pisces------------ Negative, Receiving signs.

In the order of the zodiac, starting with Aries, the signs always follow the same sequence: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.

ree

The signs in each group are 120° apart. When connected, they form a triangle.

  • Signs with Difficult Social Elévation : Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius.

  • Signs with Easy Social Elévation : Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini.

  • Violent Signs : Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius, Libra (in order of intensity).

  • Signs of Study : Gemini, Virgo, Libra, and Aquarius.

  • Signs of Eloquence : Gemini, Libra, and Sagittarius.

  • Signs with Difficulties in Expression : Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.

The distribution of planets in the water, earth, air, and fire signs in a birth chart indicates the predominant element of the person.

When someone says they are a Leo, it simply means that at the time of their birth, the Sun was in the sign of Leo.

However, this may not be the most important sign in their natal chart.

The ruling planet is the main planet that dominates the overall behavior of the native.

The ruling planet is the planet conjunct the ascendant, either in House XII or in House I. It is called the "ruling planet of the chart."

If no planet is conjunct the ascendant, the ruling planet of the sign that receives the cusp of the ascendant is used.

ree

For example :  if there are no planets in the 1st  and 12th  houses in a chart, the person with the sign of Libra as ascendant, then his ruling planet is Venus, which rules the sign of Libra.
